The invention relates to a current source comprising a first switching element (T1) which is provided with a control input (54) and is embodied and arranged in such a way that an output flow (I A) on the output side of the current source (48) can be adjusted according to a control signal on the control input (54) thereof. Said current source also comprises a reference resistance (R S) that is electrically coupled to the first switching element (T1) in such a way that a potential difference above the reference resistance (R S) represents the output flow (I A). The adjustment signal of a regulator unit (52) depends on the voltage difference above the reference resistance (R S), is the control signal of the first switching element (T1), and comprises a time function element (58) which limits a first value of the output flow (I A) to a maximum duration and then reduces said value of the output flow (I A). ® KIPO & WIPO 2009
