An image processing apparatus and a method to process an image for generating a user interface about program information are provided to grasp a category of a program intuitionally by generating the user interface having an attribute by each category of the program. A receiver(10) receives broadcast signal of a program corresponding to one among a plurality of categories. The UI generating unit(20) generates UI having one or more attribute of a plurality of attributes as UI capable of displaying the program. A image processing unit(30) performs image processing about the received broadcast signal. A controller(40) controls the UI generating unit so that the attribute of UI correspond to the category of the program.
