PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photoelectric conversion element, a solar cell, a photosensor, and an electrophotography photosensitive body high in photoelectric conversion efficiency and excellent in durability.

SOLUTION: At least a kind of a compound expressed in a general formula (1) is contained as a photoelectric conversion material. The photoelectric conversion material is a novel iso violanthrone system compound high in sensitivity to a short-wavelength light of 350 nm to 600 nm.
