<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new method of selecting calcium carbonate for producing flue-gas gypsum, a new method for producing the flue-gas gypsum using the selection method, and the flue-gas gypsum produced by using the production method. <P>SOLUTION: The new method of selecting calcium carbonate for producing the flue-gas gypsum, is carried out through a process of collecting a part or whole of calcium carbonate; a process of measuring a total magnesium component content in the collected calcium carbonate; a process of measuring an acid-soluble magnesium component content in the collected calcium carbonate; a process of inspecting whether the total magnesium component content and the acid-soluble magnesium component content satisfy the following formula or not: 0.11×acid-soluble magnesium component content+0.58×(total magnesium component content- content of acid-soluble magnesium component)<300 mg/kg; and a process of making a decision that calcium carbonate can be used for the production of the flue-gas gypsum when it satisfies the formula and can not be used for production thereof when it does not satisfy the formula.
