PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a brace-type aseismic device which houses a brace in normal cases with no earthquakes, and which can exert an aseismic function by tensioning the brace during the earthquakes. SOLUTION: This brace-type aseismic device comprises: a rectangular frame 2 which is provided in or near an opening; a brace 3, the one end 3a of which is fixed to the vicinity of a connecting portion between upper and lateral frames 2a and 2c of the frame 2; a holding means 12 for holding the side of the other end 3b of the brace 3 on the side of the upper frame 2a of the frame 2; a holding releasing means 13 for releasing the holding of the side of the other end 3b of the brace 3 by the holding means 12 when the occurrence of the earthquakes is identified by an earthquake predicting and detecting means 14, so as to lower the side of the other end 3b by self-weight; and a fixing means for tensioning the brace 3 by fixing the other end 3b of the brace 3 to a corner portion diagonal to a corner portion of the frame 2, to which one end 3a of the brace 3 is fixed, when the side of the other end 3b of the brace 3 is lowered by its self weight.
