In a PDP, a front plate constituted by forming display electrodes and a dielectric layer on a glass substrate and a back plate constituted by forming electrodes, partition walls, and a phosphor layer on a substrate are placed opposite each other and a discharge space is formed by sealing its periphery. The PDP is characterized in that the display electrode includes at least metal bus electrodes (4b, 5b) composed of metal electrode layers (42b, 52b) containing silver and a glass material and black layers (41b, 51b) containing a black material and a glass material, the glass materials of the metal electrode layers and the black layers containbismuth oxide, and that the undercut depth (W2-W1) of the metal bus electrodes is 25 µm or more.
