The structure of a multi-mode RFID reader is provided to realize a cheap multi-standard and multi-technology RFID reader. A multimode radio frequency discrimination reader comprises the followings: a baseband processing module(46) which converts outbound data into outbound modulation information, and converts an encoded inbound signal into inbound data; a transmission multiplexer(48) which is combined with a transmitter section(42), a far field antenna structure(52) and a near field coil structure(54) in order to output the outbound signals; a reception multiplexer(50) which receives the inbound signals; and a receiver section(44) for down-converting the inbound signals to the encoded inbound signals.
