<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a planar lighting apparatus which can be adjusted to predetermined luminance distribution, and to provide a liquid crystal display that uses the apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: The apparatus comprises a light guide plate and an irradiation member, wherein the light guide plate includes a laser light source which can emit a laser light, a plane of incidence for leading the laser light in and a main plane for leading the laser light out as a outgoing light, and wherein the irradiation member can irradiate laser light over predetermined area, extending in the longitudinal direction of the light guide plate. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
