PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a roll provided with indentation resistance and wear resistance, and in which recessed marks are hardly caused even by pressure from the outside. SOLUTION: The surface of a base material in a roll is coated with a self-fluxing alloy as a first layer by thermal spraying so as to form a first sprayed coating 3, and the surface of the first sprayed coating 3 is coated with a self-fluxing alloy in a laminated manner as a second layer so as to be a second sprayed coating, thus the roll with a double layer structure is obtained. In this way, even in the case local pressure is applied to the surface of the roll, since the primary sprayed coating 3 at the inside of the roll surface has sufficient hardness, the roll which has high indentation resistance and wear resistance, and in which recesses and cracks are hardly caused can be obtained.
