PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of selecting water soluble cellulose ether having small water insoluble portion as an aqueous solution of the cellulose ether to filter without clogging and capable of forming soap bubbles not broken even by the touch with hand when the soap bubbles are formed using the aqueous solution. SOLUTION: Alkali cellulose is formed from cellulose and is reacted with an etherification reagent to reach the degree of ether substitution which is required to make water soluble one and thereby, 0.1 wt.% aqueous solution of the produced water soluble cellulose ether at 25°C is prepared. The water soluble cellulose ether having≤350 pieces/2mL of undissolved fiber is selected by measuring the undissolved fiber having 16 to 200μm and is used as the water soluble cellulose ether capable of preparing the aqueous solution hardly causing the clogging when filtered by a JIS metallic wire mesh having 64μm opening. As a result, the water soluble cellulose aqueous solution free from clogging even in filtering is prepared and the cellulose ether from which a remarkably thin film is formed without defects is selectively obtained by this invention.
