PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper feed device capable of setting different sized paper sheets in one paper feed cassette at the same time, and arbitrarily selecting the paper sheet to be fed. SOLUTION: The paper feed cassette 1 for storing paper sheets and feeding the sheets one by one to a transfer part includes: a storage part 5 for storing a first paper sheet 4 on a push-up plate 10; a paper holding means 21 for holding a second paper sheet 6 having a different size from the first paper sheet 4 on the first paper sheet 4; and a switching means 8 for moving the paper holding means 21 between a first paper feeding position in which a tip end of the second paper sheet 6 is positioned a certain interval away from the tip end of the first paper sheet 4, for feeding the first paper sheet 4, and a second paper feeding position in which the tip end of the second paper sheet 6 matches the tip end of the first paper sheet 4, for feeding the second paper sheet 6.
