To provide editing processing that can shorten a data stream editing processing time. A data processor reads and writes content data from/on at least one unit area of a storage medium. A plurality of packets that store the content data are recorded on the unit area. The data processor includes: a reading section operable to read the packets; a control section operable to write the content data, which is stored in (n+1)th through (n+m)th packets (where n and m are integers that are equal to or greater than one), and storing the divided data on the first through (n+m)th packets; and a writing section operable to write a plurality of packets, including the first through (n+m)th packets, on the unit area. |
