The device (10) is for the supporting of a slave cylinder (12) of especially a clutch operating device, whereby the slave cylinder consists of two separate relatively movable sections, with one section in contact with an operating element (14) and the other supported on a support base (18) by inter-engaging support components. The support components are formed by a plug-in holder (22) with a pin (22a), and a socket (22b) to receive the pin of the plug-in holder. An independent claim is included for a slave cylinder in a motor vehicle, especially a slave cylinder in a clutch operating device and supported by the aforesaid supporting device.
