<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control wavelength dispersion characteristics of a refractive index and three-dimensional anisotropy in a retardation film at a low cost. <P>SOLUTION: The retardation film contains a liquid crystalline retardation material having a negative birefringence and a compound expressed by a formula. In the formula, X represents an alkyl group which can have a substituent, an alkoxy group which can have a substituent, an amino group which can have a substituent, a hydroxyl group, a cyano group or a halogen atom; n represents an integer of 0 to 5; Y represents a hydrogen atom or a cyano group; and Z represents a hydroxyl group, an alkoxy group which can have a substituent, or a halogen atom. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
