PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device capable of saving a space of a device itself and obtaining high productivity by providing a discharge space according to the kind of paper sheets, by changing the straight paper discharge or the inversion paper discharge according to the kind of paper sheets. SOLUTION: The image forming device uses an ink jet process, in which the discharging direction of a paper sheet with an image formed thereon is changed to the straight paper discharge or the inversion paper discharge by a changing mechanism. The image forming device has a paper sheet kind detection means (43) for detecting the kind of the paper sheet and changes the straight paper discharge or the inversion paper discharge, according to the kind of the paper sheet detected by the paper sheet kind detection means. Thus, a discharge space may be provided according to the kind of the paper sheet, the space of the device itself can be saved, the quality of the image can be maintained, and high productivity can be obtained.
