An NOx catalyst operating method is provided to cut spending of a vehicle and operate properly NOx catalyst by determining recycling end point of NOx catalyst without adopting a NOx sensor in the rear of NOx catalyst. An NOx catalyst operating method using a lambda sensor comprises a first lambda sensor(3) and second lambda sensor(5) on the front and rear of a NOx catalyst(1). In a lean state where an output of the first lambda sensor is smaller than air ratio 1, if the output of the second lambda sensor is equal to the output of the first lambda sensor, it is determined that recycling of NOx catalyst is completed.
