A light guide plate of a backlight assembly and a liquid crystal display having the same are provided to reduce moire phenomenon and improve uniformity of brightness by forming light diffusing pattern and light direction changing pattern on the light guide plate. A liquid crystal display device has a light guide plate(100), and a backlight assembly including the light guide plate. A round shape light incident plane has a light diffusing pattern(121) which receives light from a light source. A light emitting plane(113) includes a first prism pattern(123). A light redirection pattern(131) changes the direction of the light into the light emitting plane while being faced with the light emitting plane. A plane which is at opposing side of the light emitting plane has light incident area(143), and a light redirection area(145).
