1,212,325. Refining alloy steels. DEUTSCHE EDELSTAHLWERKE A. G. May 14, 1969 [Sept.26, 1968], No.24664/69. Heading C7D. Alloy steels are refined by:- a) Producing a melt of about the correct composition in an electric arc furnace; b) Partially desulphurizing the melt in a ladle using a slagging agent (e.g. lime-fluorspar associated with one or more of Al, Mg and Si); c) Removing the slag; d) Continuously subjecting the melt to vacuumcirculatory-degassification while introducing oxygen into the ladle and a pulverized slagging and desulpurizing agent into the vacuum chamber, the melt being returned to the ladle; and e) Deslagging the melt and pouring off refined alloy steel. Alloying or conventional deoxidizing agents additions can be made during the vacuum degassification step.
|
