A sliding clasp fastener comprises longitudinal rows of interlocking elements made from plastics monofilaments and provided with an initial clearance for contraction in accordance with shrinkage of the stringer tapes. In the embodiment shown the interlocking elements 4 of each row are formed with heads 6 initially spaced apart by a distance greater than the breadth of the heads. The elements may pass through spacing apertures in the tapes or may be attached by rows of stitching. |
