<p>The weft bar preventing apparatus comprises: a target tension processor (76) capable of setting a target tension (Ts) of the warp (12) at a start preparation time at a value different from a target value (Tr) at a regular operation time; and a drive circuit (78, 86, 94, 98) for driving a warp beam (14) so as to make a target tension of the warp (12) corresponding to the start preparation time by a start preparation signal (S4) inputted prior to starting operation of a loom (10).
