A cation resin composition for an electrodeposition paint, and an electrodeposition paint composition containing the resin composition are provided to make the content of a solvent to be uniform and to improve the appearance and pin-hole resistance of a coating. A cation resin composition comprises a base (main resin) which is prepared by hydrolyzing the polymer obtained by reacting ketimine to a polyepoxy resin so as to produce a primary amine, and reacting the produced primary amine with a monoepoxy; and a curing agent which contains a blocked polyisocyanate. Preferably the polyepoxy resin is a polyepoxy resin obtained by extending the chain with an aliphatic polyol and a bisphenol A type polyphenol.
