A robot cleaner is provided to make the exact cleaning area settlement and the exact current position recognition possible by detecting the pollution of a camera protection window and removing the pollution source of the camera window protection window. A method for detecting the pollution of a camera protection window of a robot cleaner comprises the steps of photographing an image using a camera(S2), producing the sharpness of the image by receiving the image signal obtained from the camera(S3), determining that a protection window of the camera is polluted if the produced sharpness is below the preset standard sharpness(S4), and then giving a warning to let a user recognize the pollution of the camera protection window.
