A security system for a portable electrical apparatus 4 such as a vehicle stereo system 4 located in a frame 5 includes an electrical power supply 21 for energising the apparatus and a locking device 6 connected to the same supply. The device 6 includes a powered unit 7 which normally secures a locking element 8 in a disengaged position.. When the power supply 21 is switched off the unit 7 releases element 8 so that a lower end 9 can engage the frame 5 to secure the apparatus against removal. Preferably the element 8 falls under the effect of gravity. |
