A blood processing device is self-contained within a case (36) sized to enable hand transport. Self-contained in the case (36) is a blood separation device (18), which, for example, can comprise a centrifuge (20). A controller (16) is also self-contained in the case (36). The controller (16) includes a control program for carrying out one or more blood processing procedures. A fluid processing system (10) employs a cassette (28) containing preformed, fluid pressure actuated pump stations (PP1-PP4) and valves (V1-V23), and preformed fluid flow paths. A fluid pressure actuator (30) in the case (36) holds the cassette (28) and selectively applies fluid pressure force to the valves and pump stations in response to the control program.
