The image sensor and manufacturing method thereof are provided to prevent the light coming in being reflected in the chip edge part by enlarging the metal etch slope of the top metal and to improve the optical efficiency. The image sensor comprises the pixel region(P), the peripheral area, the first top metal(140a), and the micro lens(150a). The pixel region and the peripheral area are formed in the substrate(100). The first top metal having slope is formed on the pixel region. The micro lens is formed in the first top metal upper. Accordingly, the optical efficiency can be improved.
