An antibacterial composition against Prevotella intermedia, and a composition for preventing or treating gingivitis containing the antibacterial composition are provided to prevent the problem related to the side product or tolerance of already-known antibiotics. An antibacterial composition against Prevotella intermedia comprises at least one extract selected from kelp, Scytosiphon lomentaria, brown seaweed and Ulva pertusa. Preferably the extract is a crude extract extracted by using at least one selected from the group consisting of 50-100 % C1-C4 alcohols, ethyl acetate, hexane and dichloromethane as an extraction solvent.
