The CRT has a protective implosion band around its largest periphery. This band consists of tensioned laminar metal tape passing over fixing brackets at the corners of the tube. Each bracket consists of an angle (1) with a hole (3) for mounting and a plane arm. The angle's plane arm is fixed to a curved piece (2) that passes over the corner of the crt beneath the tape or between layers in the tape. The advantage lies in making crt tolerances less critical.
