<p>1-(2-Thiazolyl)-2-oxotetrahydroimidazole prepn. Cpd. of formula:- is prepared (a) by reacting a cpd. of formula:- H2N-CH2-CH2-NH-CO-OR1 with carbon disulphide, reacting the product with a hypochlorite, then with ammonia and dichloroethyl alcohol and subjecting the resulting cpd. to cyclisation at 35-180 degrees C.; (b) by cyclising a cpd. of formula:- (c) by reacting a N-2-thiazolylurethane with a 2-haloethylamino hydrogen halide. Product is useful for prepn. of pharmaceutical cpds. having a nitro group on the C atom at the 5-posn. of the thiazole ring.</p> |
