Novel imidazolidones of the formula in which R is an optionally substituted cycloaliphatic radical containing 3-8 ring members and n is 0 or 1, are obtained by condensing imidazolid - 2 - one - 1 - carboxylic acid chloride with an amine R-(CH 2 ) n -NH 2 in the presence of an acid-acceptor, preferably NaOH. Specified compounds are those derived from cyclopropylamine, cyclopentylamine, cyclohexylamine, methylcyclohexylamines, cyclohexylmethylamine and cyclooctylamine. The novel compounds possess herbicidal properties and are used in conventional forms as pre- and post-emergence, total or selective weedkillers. |
