A gaming machine system for communal gaming including: at least one processor for determining the outcome of a communal game; a plurality of gaming terminals in communication with the at least one processor; the gaming terminals allowing respective users at each of the plurality of gaming terminals to wager on the outcome of the communal game; the communal game having a trigger event associated with at least one predetermined outcome of the communal game, the trigger event enabling an auxiliary event menu displaying a plurality of auxiliary events; the at least one processor capable of selecting a single user from t he respective users to choose of one of the plurality of auxiliary events from the auxilia ry event menu.
