Biaryl substituted triazoles as sodium channel blockers

Disclosed are compounds of formulae (I) - (III), wherein the substituents are as defined in the specification, and a process for their preparation. The compounds are useful for providing local anaesthesia or treating conditions associated with or caused by sodium channel activity, including acute pain, chronic pain, visceral pain, inflammatory pain, neuropathic pain, epilepsy, irritable bowel syndrome, depression, anxiety, multiple sclerosis, and bipolar disorder.
