The method involves electrically disconnecting one module of a fuel cell (1) below an output threshold by a short circuit, where the fuel cell includes modules (40-43) electrically connected in series and formed of electrochemical cells, which have membrane electrodes. The output threshold of the fuel cell is determined according to the current delivered by the fuel cell. The module is disconnected when the current delivered by the fuel cell is lower than a defined value. The disconnected module is reconnected, when the delivered current is higher than another defined value. |
