Extendable frame for lifting sheet material with stabilising means to maintain frame in horizontal orientation

Apparatus and methods for lifting and transporting stacked sheet materials are disclosed. The apparatus has a frame for use with a lifting mechanism, where the frame can be telescopically (4, 5) extended in lateral and longitudinal directions in a horizontal plane. Multiple L-shaped forks (9) extend from the frame, and tines (10) of the forks may be inserted beneath an object or stack of objects. Stabilising apparatus is provided to maintain the frame in a true horizontal plane during lifting of the object or stack.
