A light detection control mechanism and method of an optical pickup device utilizing an azimuth rotator are provided to control the quantity of a wide range of light reaching a PDIC(Photo Detector Integrated Circuit) conveniently and precisely by arranging a pair of linear polarization conversion devices in the part the light reaches each PDIC. A light detection control mechanism of an optical pickup device comprises a laser diode, a PDIC sensing the light emitted from the laser diode, and two or more azimuth rotators(24,25) positioned between the laser diode and PDIC, wherein the azimuth rotators are arranged so that the polarization directions incline at the relative angle of theta. |
