A cathode potential control device is provided to control power consumption in a display panel minimum according to the temperature dependent property of the self light device while the peak level of the brightness is maintained. A cathode potential control device controls the common cathode potential supplied to the self-light emitting type display panel controlling radiation of each pixel with the active matrix operation. A cathode potential decision unit reads the cathode potential value, related to the potential of the panel, driving the self light device in the saturation region according to the panel temperature and offset the temperature dependent property of the voltage generated in the light emitting operation between the anode electrode and cathode electrode of the self light device. A cathode potential supplying unit(23) generates the cathode potential corresponding to the determined cathode potential value and supplies the electric potential to the common cathode electrode of the self-light emitting type display panel.
