A shower enclosure system for installation in a room is disclosed. The system includes at least one door and at least one return panel, which, with one or more walls of the room, define a shower enclosure. The system also includes a longitudinally extending overhead support arm having a curved shape which comprises at least two curves of different radii in at least one plane, is fixable to a wall of the room at an end of the support arm and is of a shape and dimensions relative to the door and return panel(s) such that the support arm is non-contiguous with the upper edge of at least one return panel but intersects the planes of the return panel(s) and the door panel above their upper edges; at least one connector for connecting the support arm to the upper edge of the return panel(s) at at least one point along the upper edge of the return panel(s); and a connector for connecting the support arm to the upper edge of the door panel at one point along the upper edge of the door panel.
