A programmable indicator capable of executing a backup processing or the like for set information in a plurality of controllers with a good operation performance, while preventing the unauthorized use of the backed up set information between the controllers and storage media which hold the set information. The programmable indicator comprises communication drivers (12), a file system processing section (14) for making access to storage media (50) for storing information to be backed up/restored including a target controller for designating the controller (30) for performing a backup/restore processing among the controllers (30) connected to a programmable indicator (10) and target set information and the setting information, respectively, and a set information acquiring/writing section (19) for making the access to the controllers (30) through a communication driver (12) based on the set the backup/restore target information and making the access to the storage media (50) through the file system processing section (14) to perform the backup/restore processing for the set information.
