PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface treatment method capable of imparting alkali resistance and corrosion resistance to the surface of an aluminum material by simple treatment. SOLUTION: The surface treatment method for an aluminum material is characterized in that an aqueous surface treatment liquid prepared by adding lithium fluoride and alkali metal silicate to water is made in contact with the surface of an aluminum material. Preferably, as the alkali metal silicate, sodium metasilicate is used. Particularly preferably, before making in contact with the aqueous surface treatment agent, the aluminum material surface is treated with a chelating agent-containing alkaline solution.
