PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method by which alacepril having improved quality is industrially produced by the mixed acid anhydride method using inexpensive L-phenylalanine. SOLUTION: The method for producing the alacepril comprises a step of reacting 1-(D-3-acetylthio-2-methylpropanoyl)-L-proline with a chloroformic ester, producing the mixed acid anhydride represented by formula, adding an acid thereto and regulating the pH to≤4 and a step of reacting the mixed acid anhydride with the L-phenylalanine.
