The linear motor has a stator (1) for producing a stretched field area. A rotor (2) is moved within the field area of the stator, such that a gap (C) exists between the stator and the rotor. The rotor has a cooling channel through which a cooling medium is flowed. The cooling channel has one or multiple cooling openings, and is provided at a lower surface of the rotor. The cooling openings are arranged such that the cooling medium is conducted upward in the gap. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a machine, particularly a vending machine for assembly of components (2) method for cooling a linear motor.
