<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drink flavoring straw which has improved performance generally in addition of dissolvable agents to fluids. <P>SOLUTION: In the drink flavoring straw 1, a plurality of pellets 10 are held in an elongate tubular body 4 which has filter means 11 at both ends, passage of a carrier liquid through the tubular body 4 causes the pellets to progressively dissolve, thereby releasing an active ingredient into the carrier liquid upon consuming, the pellets 10 are formed as nonpareil pellets each having a plurality of generally concentric layers. The dissolution characteristics of the pellets 10 are predetermined such that the general shape of the pellets is substantially retained as the pellets 10 dissolve and reduce in size. The relative increase in concentration is determined so as substantially to offset a reduction in surface area of the pallets as they dissolves, thereby imparting a relatively uniform concentration of the flavoring agent in the carrier liquid.
