PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inspection device and an inspection method capable of inspecting accurately whether liquid is dispensed accurately into a well-shaped reaction part formed on a substrate, whose bottom surface has a flat and hollow shape, and whose volume is small, or not. SOLUTION: Illumination is irradiated in a coaxial vertical illumination system from an optical system to a reaction container 11, and an observation image is imaged by a camera 13. Switching-on/off control and dimming control of the illumination can be performed by an illumination control device 14. No.15 which is an image input device is connected to the camera 13. No.16 which is a personal computer is connected to the image input device 15, and performs calculation processing for image processing and determination processing.
