PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lid device of a manhole which is formed in a double lid structure having a steel lid and a casing and in which the function of a large opening formed in the bottom wall of the casing is sufficiently utilized and high safety is secured. SOLUTION: This lid device comprises the steel lid 3, the casing 4, and a lid receiving frame 5. The casing 4 is formed in a bottomed cylindrical shape, has one large opening 17 in the bottom wall, and is opened and closed by a butterfly valve. A safety bar 16 is installed in the casing in a fence shape. Also, a hanging handle 14 and a latch mechanism 15 are arranged in the casing. The latch mechanism 15 has a latch projection 39 engaged with the lid receiving frame 5 to prevent the casing 4 from being accidentally pushed up. The latch mechanism is operated when the hanging handle 14 is operated. When the hanging handle 14 is raised for taking out the casing 4, the engagement of the latch projection 39 with the lid receiving frame 5 is released. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
