PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electroconductive metal oxide powder which can be prepared by a simple process at a low cost and is excellent in electroconductivity. SOLUTION: By applying a composition in which germanium and tin coexist with indium and the total of germanium and tin is more than 0.02 and less than 0.4 in molar ratio against 1 mole of indium as the composition of an electroconductive metal oxide powder, an electroconductive metal oxide powder having a better electroconductivity is prepared. Since major raw materials are oxides, an excellent electroconductive metal oxide powder having a fine particle diameter is prepared, without using a solution system, by mechanically mixing oxide fine particles or heating pulverized raw materials. Therefore, wastewater treatment and reducing treatment are unnecessary and simplification and cost reduction of process are easily realized. Since oxide raw materials are used, fine particles having a high crystallinity and less defects are easily made and a higher electroconductivity is achieved compared with a melting method.
