Provided are a bearing device for a wheel, having a depression/projection fitting structure that eliminates nut fastening work to reduce cost and can firmly connect an outer joint member and a hub ring together, a method of assembling a bearing device for a wheel, an assembly constructed from a bearing device for a wheel and from a drive shaft, and a method of assembling an assembly. An axial load is applied to a step surface (56) provided on an outer diameter surface of the outer joint member. Axially extending projections are arranged either on a stem shaft (9b) of the outer joint member or on an inner diameter surface of a hole (29) of a hub ring (4), and the projections are press-fitted in the axial direction into a mating member. This forms depressions on the mating member, and the depressions come into intimate contact with the projections in the entire area of a fitting contact portion (45). Thus, the depression/projection fitting structure (M) is formed.
