<p>An elevator includes a converter (5) that converts alternating current into direct current, an inverter (10) that converts the direct current into alternating current having a variable voltage and a variable frequency, and a motor (17) that is driven by the variable-voltage variable-frequency alternating current. The elevator further includes a regenerative resistor (35) that is connected to the DC side of the inverter (10) and consumes regenerative electric power from the motor (17) depending on the operation of a regenerative transistor (31), and a cooling fan (75) that blows to cool the regenerative resistor (35). A voltage across the regenerative resistor (35) is used as power supply for the cooling fan (75).</p> |
