A multi-input multi-output communications method and a multi-input multi-output communication system using the same are to provided to determine the number of active antennas transmitting transmission signal of transmission antennas in consideration of the power of the transmission signal. An antenna number determining unit determines the number of one or more active antennas transmitting carrier signal in consideration of the power of transmission signal among transmission antennas(210). A beam forming unit(220) generates the transmission signal corresponding to the number of active antenna by using channel information fed back from user terminals. The number of active antennas is determined in consideration of at least one of the number of user terminals and the channel information.
