PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact imaging apparatus equipped with a zoom lens of an inner zoom system constituted of positive, negative, positive and positive groups and having a reflection surface in an optical path, and advantageous in securing a variable power ratio and securing a viewing angle. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus is equipped with the zoom lens and an imaging device arranged on the image side of the lens. The zoom lens has a positive first lens group G1, a negative second lens group G2, a positive third lens group G3, a positive fourth lens group G4, and a brightness stop S between the second lens group G2 and the third lens group G3 in order from an object side. By fixing the position of the first lens group G1 and moving at least the second lens group G2 and the third lens group G3 so as to change respective spaces held between the respective lens groups, variable power is performed from a wide angle end to a telephoto end. The second lens group G2 is constituted of three lenses, that is, a negative lens, a positive lens and a negative lens in order from the object side, and the negative lens nearest to the object side has an aspherical surface.
