The method involves spraying water over nozzles under high pressure for forming water drops, where the water drops are arranged at a distance from each other in a rail vehicle and are produced over an entire cross-sectional surface of an interior of the vehicle. The water drops are produced with a drop diameter under 1000 micrometers. Each of the water drops seals an area of the vehicle in such a manner that fire does not penetrate through the water drops.
