The device has an image capturing unit (1) e.g. X-ray image capturing unit, arranged on a guide component (10) such that the image capturing unit horizontally movable along the guide component. A C-arm (3) with an X-ray emitter (3) and an X-ray detector (4) is provided in the image capturing unit. The guide component is integrated in a base surface (11) and is integrated in an operation table. The image capturing unit is transported from a room e.g. operation theater, into another room by a trolley unit. An independent claim is also included for a method for producing medial image data.
